Road Bitumen (BND) is the product of oil processing, indispensable component of the road construction process and production of different types of mastic, hydraulic insulating materials and roofing materials, materials used for treating foundations, pipelines and many other products employed in construction.

Construction bitumen is used in construction works performed in different sectors of national economy. The specific structure of the substance gives construction bitumen the important properties contributing to its effective use in different spheres of construction. Construction oil bitumen is obtained from oxidation of oil refining residues and their asphalt and oil production extracts mixtures and also from compounding of oxidized and unoxidized above mentioned products. The following types of construction bitumen are produced BN 50/50, BN 90/10, BN 70/30. Their prices differ as far as each of them has a certain level of strength, elasticity and hardness.

Roofing bitumen is a combustible substance with flash point of not less than 240 °С and self-ignition temperature of not lower than 300°С. It is obtained the same way as construction bitumen – from oxidation of products of straight distillation of petroleum and their asphalt and oil production extracts mixtures. Depending on the usage of roofing oil bitumen there exist the following types:
BNK-40/180 - penetrating bitumen;
BNK-45/190 - penetrating bitumen and bitumen used for obtaining roofing bitumen;
BNK-90/30 - bitumen used for coating;
Isolation bitumen (BNI) is obtained from oxidation of products of straight distillation of petroleum and their asphalt and oil production extracts mixtures
Depending on the usage of roofing oil bitumen there exist the following types: BNI-IV-3, BNI-IV and BNI-V
Liquid road bitumen is used as a cementitious material in the process of road paving, construction of foundations and in some other processes.
Depending on the speed of structure formation, liquid bitumen is divided into two types:
- medium-curing one obtained from deliquation of viscous road bitumen with the help of hydrocarbon oils (SG). It is used for the construction of road paving and lightweight type of road paving as well as for foundations in all road building climate zones of the country;
- slowly-curing one obtained from deliquation of viscous road bitumen with the help of hydrocarbon oils (MG) and obtained from residual or partially oxidized oil products or their mixtures (MGO). It is used for obtaining cold asphalt concrete and for construction of the lightweight type of road paving and foundations in II–V road building climate zones.
Liquid bitumen is produced in accordance with requirements of GOST 11955-82 and its physicochemical parameters satisfy all the requirements and norms.
